Kosjerić

Host as the closest relative

Kosjerić
Kosjerić is enclosed by tame and fragrant villages: Seča Reka, Kosjerićka Mionica, Donji Taor, Skakavci, Rosići, Radanovci... all familiar and hospitable, with beautifully furnished tourist households and a decade of hosting experience. This region is called the capital of Serbian village tourism. Village vacation lovers are glad to stay here. They like to be woken up peacefully by twitter near the clear springs and to eat the tastiest cheese pie, fritters, polenta with fresh milk, blushing roast meat just taken out from the oven, lamb rolls, raspberry cakes and other delicacies.

For decades, numerous guests have kept coming back to the villages around Kosjerić each summer. This has gradually resulted in their closeness with hosts who always give their selfless attention, and eventually the two have become as close as relatives. Well developed village tourism of this region is now famous worldwide and tourists come from all parts of the world.

Tourism of Kosjerić can be depicted in many other respects. This region has become famous for the top gastronomic skills: for decades, Chef Milijan Stojanić has been one of our major cooks, the first ladle of Western Serbia. His delicacies are always at your disposal in ”Izvor“, a local motel. Women of Kosjerić are skillful in handcrafts and preparation of old meals (”Hands of Gold” Festival) and the whole region is good in traditional singing. ”Shepherds’ Days“ is the most famous manifestation. This Festival of Folk Traditions takes place on a nearby hill Grad or in the center of Kosjerić, somewhat around Feast of Saints Peter and Paul (Petrovdan). Just like shephers once upon a time, young people compete in dancing or singing, wrestling at close quarters and stone throwing, and there is also a pageant for the most beautiful shepherdess and a shepherd couple. Lovers of modern events can visit an international art camp. Kosjerić is also called the olympic town, it has an ”olympic fountain“ dedicated to the founder of the Olympic Movement of Serbia, the ”Olimpik“ Hotel, as well as an olympic-size swimming pool in the open. There is some special magic in the Springs of Taor, sheltered in the bosom of Povlen near village Donji Taor, where water springs out of a cave and turns into waterfalls and cascades alongside the attractive flow on which ancient wooden watermills are located.
