National Theater

The first drama society was founded in Užice in 1856, while the first professional theater was established after WWII.

The first play was performed in September 4, 1945. It was The Lady Minister by Branislav Nušić.

The building housing the theater was erected in 1967 as part of the Partisan Square complex. The National Theater staged and performed more than 500 premieres to this day.
